Weekly Schedule

*PRO TIP*

Print the weekly schedule every Monday and use it as a check list :)

Your new distance learning plan will follow this format each week.

Check back every Monday and click on the schedule below to  access and go over what you'll need to do to complete your distance learning requirements.

Assignments and activities will be released on the day that they're planned. I advise that you complete your work on the day it is intended, but as long as everything is completed by Friday - you will not be marked down. If you and your family needs weekend time to complete the work, please message me on dojo.

Distance Learning Explained

This video explains the document that I sent out on Friday 04/17. A similar document will be sent out every Monday - use this video to help you understand exactly what you're looking at. :)

Here, I explain how to get to clever which is the portal your children will use to access all three of the distance learning platforms we'll be utilizing during this time.

It also explains how to access and add each class to your child's google classroom account.

This video was shot from "student view." It shows how you will add a google classroom and what your google classroom page will look like once all classes are added.

I also begin to explain how to use Kami, but will finish demonstrating how to use it in the next video. :)

When using Kami, make sure to hit the save button and close the Kami window.

Then, return to the google classroom tab, refresh, and turn in the assignment. :)

I submitted a request for the Kami extension to be pushed out to all district devices. You will be unable to install it without admin approval. If you are using an LUSD chrome book, message me.

To add the free Kami extension to your google chrome web browser, be logged into a non-district google account and

Once the extension is added to the browser, your child should be able to use it when they log into their account for google classroom.

**If using an iPad, you will not need to add the Kami extension. Your child will be able to open, edit, save, and submit the document right there in google classroom.

ELA Expectations

There are three parts to ELA each day.

1. Reading, 2. Digital Practice, 3. Writing

Their reading and digital practice will be assigned and completed through their digital Wonders/McGraw Hill.

After completing their daily reading and digital practice (make sure you press submit,) they will go to their ELA google classroom where they will either respond to a writing prompt about their story, or complete a phonics practice page.

Math Expectations

There are three parts to Math each day.

1. Daily Zearn Lesson

2. Daily Video Lesson

3. Problem Set of the Day

Zearn will be completed straight through the Zearn App. Then, you will move to your Math google classroom to watch the daily video, and complete the problem set.

P.E. Expectations

Each day a new activity will be released on google classroom. Follow the exercise video from beginning to end and then press the "mark as done" button.

P.B.L. Expectations

Each week a new project will be released. Follow the directions in the P.B.L. google classroom and submit the assignment when you've completed the requirements.

iPads & Google Classroom

If your child has access to an iPad, they will not need to download Kami and can complete google classroom assignments right on their screen! I'd advise using a stylist. Watch this video to see how. :)

If working on ELA from an iPad reading/digital practice - make sure you're using a google chrome web browser (not safari).

Kami Work-around

If your child has a district device or you are struggling with adding the Kami extension, I've come up with another way that students can edit their assignments digitally - no extensions required.

Watch this video to see how google slides can be used to complete your coursework. :)
