Our world and children are struggling due to the decline of "play." And no, I'm not talking about video games. I'm talking about real, social, running around, getting dirty, building, drawing, creating -PLAY! If you have the time (roughly 16 minutes),Peter Gray gives an incredible TedTalk about this topic.

In an effort to help children learn how to truly play, to interact with each other in meaningful ways, to develop social skills, process what it is like to be bored and come up with their own solutions - TODAY, February 6th - our class participated in Global School Play Day! From lunch, until genius hour. I allowed the children to play freely, to build, create, and design - only being bound be three rules. 1) be safe, 2) be kind,3) be respectful.
