A close family friend of mine is a United Airlines pilot, Captain McDermott! He agreed to and was very excited to come speak to first grade about the four elements of flight (weight, lift, thrust, and drag) to support our Flight PBL. He brought in realia such as a scale model of the EXACT plane he flies, charts, maps, and pictures of the cockpit of his plane. He also gifted United Airline passports (activity books), airplane trading cards, airline wings, and "First Officer in Training" certificates to our students! He is VERY proud of his job and we were VERY proud to have him visit us at here at JMC. :)
